Shirt Embroidery
Shirt embroidery is one of the most creative and useful arts any individual can know. Any garment can be renewed and new life regenerated by creating some designs on an old piece of apparel. Both women and men’s shirts and other clothing pieces have been adorned with embroidery patterns in the past, most especially the women and men-folk of the traditional and ethnic East Indian nations.
In India, both men and women take pride in the art of embroidering clothing, which includes shirt embroidery. Most label houses also take pride in revealing clothing lines designed and decorated by master craftsmen in the art of shirt embroidering. Another popular appeal of shirt embroidering is the introduction of hand-made designs which contain unique patterns and designs so that no two shirts are ever alike!
The type of shirt and the material from which it is made often influences the designs, thread colors and decorative appeal that are applied to each garment. Shirt embroidery patterns for women’s casual shirts can be made from colorful threads and usually carry floral or border embroidery along the sleeves, collars, and chest lines. It is also common to find decorative embroidery along the border of the shirt hem. The material used for women’s casual embroidery shirts can vary from light cotton to heavier linen-type material.
On the other hand, women’s formal embroidered shirts tend to be made from the best quality material. This is usually fine silk and other similar material. Women’s formal embroidered shirts are also commonly sparingly embroidered along shirt borders or necklines and the design allows, although intricate and elaborate designs along the front of the shirt can be included. The embroidery thread used for shirt embroidery on women’s formal shirts can be colored, although for formal designs less combination colors are noted. Gold and silver threads are also popular for women’s formal embroidered shirts.
Men’s embroidered shirts, like the women’s, also include styles for casual wear, semi-causal, and formal wear. Shirt embroidery patterns on men’s wear tend to be less colorful than women’s. In addition, it is highly unlikely to find men’s shirts with floral embroidery designs or appliquéd motifs! All styles of men’s shirts are generally made from a single color thread, with the formal designs having the gold or silver thread designs. Simple borders along the neckline or collar is popular, as is designs on the cuffs of long sleeved shirts.
